Los Angeles: Police detectives are asking for the public's help in finding any witnesses who may have seen the shooting of a Van Nuys man on Thursday.
On July 27, 2006, around 11:10 p.m., police responded to a shooting call in the 6700 block of Haskell Avenue. When they arrived, officers found Alfonso Basulto, 43, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his chest. Mr. Basulto was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The suspects were two Hispanic men who left the area in a dark SUV.
The motive for the shooting is unknown.
Anyone with information is asked to call Van Nuys Homicide Detectives at 818-374-0094. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at 1-877-LAWFULL (529-3855). The identities of callers wishing to remain anonymous will be protected.
Alfonso Basulto, known to family and friends as "Pocho", is man that shouldn't have died this way.
He has a wife, children, grand-children, and hundreds of friends who are completely devastated by this horrible tragedy.
Pocho had no gang affilitations. He was just visiting his brother and family, relaxing in the backyard, minding his own business.
This was a senseless act and those who are responsible must be brought to justice. The community where this happened is small and someone must know who was involved.
The Basulto family along with the L.A.P.D. need your help in providing more information in order to help apprehend the person or persons responsible.
We all love Pocho very much and we need to have closure. Any information or help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
