I can't believe the LAPD is doing a press release for this!
A 46 year old man can't go away unannounced for awhile without someone reporting him missing?
He's probably sitting in an LA County jail cell under an alias.
Aren't there any real missing person's cases out there, like the ones where a child was abducted?
Hey Lt, can I report Chief Bratton missing?
I haven't seen him in awhile. He may be on one of his many trips out of LA.

Mr. Good,
We use LAPD Bulletins for a varity of reasons, one of which is Missing Persons. If a child were abducted the investigation would include a Bulletin and Amber Alert.
As for Chief Bratton's schedule, I don't question a higher ranking officer's itinerary.

It has been well over two weeks since the man has gone missing, and I don't think that there is any problem with the LAPD using news outlets as a means to furthering their mission of community service.
You may see this as a waste of resources, however if it was your family member that had been missing for more than two weeks you would probably want as much help as you could possibly get.
The LAPD is a public safety agency in addition to providing law enforcement.
