Los Angeles: Last night a known Van Nuys gang member was shot and killed by a rival gang member at the corner of Kittridge Street and Woodman Avenue.
On Tuesday, November 28, 2006, around 5:00 P.M., Van Nuys Area patrol officers responded to a "Shots Fired" radio call. When officers arrived they found 23-year-old Juan Manuel Alonzo suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
Ongoing gang rivalry and a dispute over gang turf were motives for this crime. The suspects are two male Hispanics in their early 20s. The weapon was a dark-metal handgun. After the shooting, both suspects fled southbound on Woodman Avenue in a blue Ford Mustang.
Anyone with information regarding this information is asked to call Van Nuys Homicide Detectives A. Lopez or J. Nuttall at 818-374-0040 or 818-374-1963, after 5:00 P.M. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free Detective Information Desk at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855). Callers may remain anonymous
I wonder why we don't take all the gang members out to the desert and let them shoot it out.
This would make it quicker for them and safer for the rest of us.

Chief Moore
The reason you don't believe you are in a STATE OF SIEGE is because you don't want the public or your boss to think you don't have crime under control. Officers in that division are telling you that gang crime is rising and the citizens are telling you gangs are out of control. Listen! Go after the gangs. Let your cops go to work and put the gangs in their place. And that is behind bars! Period. Stop talking and go to work. Your cops are not cannon fodder! Take care of them and give them the tools to get the job done. If the citizens feel they are in a state of Siege, then they are! Who cares about the other divisions. Stop comparing because the people who live in your area can care less what crime is like in other parts of the city. Just because Commander MOORE doesn't think gang crime is putting the lives of the citizens in a STAE OF SIEGE doesn't make it so. They think it,they live in it AND YOU DON'T. Let your cops hit these street thugs and hit them hard. Your leadership is on the line. The free ride you got at Rampart, you will not get in the Valley. Gang crime is up and it's up to you to make sure it goes down. If you can't maybe the Chief should find himself a new leader for the Valley. Period

Times are getting worse. More killing will not solve anything. Mr take Gang members to the desert and let them shoot it out. You can take that roll if you'd like. Find the Gang Members and tell them your hot idea. Getting involved is more realistic and that opens doors to many other realistic solutions. there is no perm solution because violence is human nature.
