Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department's media relations office issued the following statement today:
The LAPD is aware that a deposition given by former LAPD Deputy Chief Michael Berkow, in a civil lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles, was ordered unsealed. Due to the pending litigation and an ongoing internal personnel investigation, the Department is unable to answer any questions or provide any details related to this matter.
Lets see if the Chief is true to his word when it comes to discipline between the Staff Officers and the ground pounders regarding preferential treatment...I wonder if the female metro sgt will be reassigned pending this fair and impartial investigation is completed...

This is just another reason why outsiders shouldn't be introduced as LAPD cadre... and why the chief should come from within LAPD and have civil service protections. Until all of LAPD's officers and chiefs obtain civil service protections, LA City will be as corrupt as they were when Mayor Shaw owned the LAPD. We're back to the 1930s.

It is one thing to make a mistake from the heart, but quite another when you're placed in a position of leadership and knowingly and purposely violate not only Department Policy, but the Code of Ethics. Yes Boomer we will be watching.

We all make mistakes, and lets be real people. Infidelity and adultery has been a staple with in the LAPD. That's how a lot of us got together. I strongly believe those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. But when the same Deputy Chief and female Sergeant who during IA interviews chastised other officers of this department for being immoral and having an inappropriate relationships, which included taking days. You have to wonder how they can look at themself in the mirror and sleep at night. Or is this the classic case of don't do as I do. Do as I say.

The law suits that will be filed based upon Berkow's actions will cost the City of Los Angeles a lot of money. There is one good item, that is at least Berkow did not feed dog food to any of the females.
