wow, first may 1st, now this shooting. metro div does not sound so elite. guess letting in a bunch of young cops with clean packages is now starting to backfire on the dept.

why, dude had a knife and was gonna probably ambush the ofcrs. Maybe Sam should put on a uniform. There giving them out at the academy and any old moron can get one. Instead of talkin, stupid come on board and make a difference.

Wow. I heard of beat and release but shoot and release? What's the deal.. Sams right. Too many 1 page package officers in Metro.

Goosby was involved in a legit OIS this yr. Now he's tangled in Espi's B/O OIS.

Why wasn't the suspect at least booked and/or cited for the bicycle violations?

Like Sam the Scam said, this is what you get when you let inexperienced operators into Metro.

Old School Metro-RIP.

It is a sad state when the best of the best--METRO--is no longer the best. Once upon a time, METRO might consider you if you were an agressive street police officer with numerous arrests. But with being an agressive street police officer comes personnel complaints. This is a major red flag today.

Now the powers to be want metro to have a different mind set. Officers with clean packages (that translates to very little time on the street) are considered to be best suited for metro. (Please note that I am showing metro in small letters because it has changed.)

Twenty years ago, those two officers would have not had enough time on to be considered for METRO. Today, I rest my case.

Does the LAPD pay for this man's (victim's) hospital bill?

hey big chad, before you jump on the "why don't you put on a uniform" thing. let me tell you alittle about myself. 12 years on, been in the field for all twelve. have been an fto for 7 years. have worked gangs, bikes, and vice. i have also been involved in two OIS's. oh, by the way, they were both in policy.

i have heard about officer goosby's previous shooting. and let me tell you. my hat's off to that man. he steped up to the plate when someone needed to be put down.

my post was directed more at the new lapd rather then the individual officer's. it was told to me, that since i have a complaint and a suspension, in my package,i could not get into metro.

oh, i wonder what would happen if a patrol cop would have shot at that guy

whatever happened to the officer's perceptions at the time of the shooting?
I always read how everyone is tired of monday quarterbacking and you sit on the blog and do it to my/your fellow officers. I am just glad ofcrs espinoza and goosby did whatever they needed to do to go home that night. Protect yourself and your partner first! Then worry about what comes next.

What happened to the days of keeping "dirty laundry" in house instead of on the web for everyone to see. Seeing these types of responses is what keeps good, solid police officers from even applying to our so called "elite" units. This is exactly what they want us to do - turn on each other and screw everything up from the inside.........

HEY Sam, What was the complaint and how long was your suspension??? How do you think you were treated???

There is a bright side to this story..

At least the cops didn't place a
weapon on him.

Last month my buddy was shot by sheriffs and they placed a weapon at the scene and said it was his.

Carry your camera and camcorders..
These cops are out to kill
