One Person is Dead After a Multi-Victim Shooting
Los Angeles: Three people were shot at and two were struck by gunfire, in the Jefferson Park area of Los Angeles sunday morning.
On Sunday, October 7, 2007, at about 11:35 a.m., Joshua Thierry, 18, along with a couple of his friends, a female Black, 31, and a male Black, 31, were in front of a beauty supply store in the 1300 block of West Jefferson Boulevard. At least 3, possibly 4 suspects drove up eastbound on Jefferson Boulevard and stopped next to the trio.
One suspect fired 4-6 rounds at the victims. The suspects were described only as 3 to 4 male blacks, with the shooter being between 18 and 20 years old.
Thierry was hit in the upper torso and transported to a local hospital, where he died a short time later. The other male victim was struck in the right leg and was listed in stable condition. The female victim was not injured.
Detectives believe the motive for the shooting was gang related.
South Bureau Homicide Detectives Rick Gordon and Vince Carreon are conducting the investigation. Anyone with information may contact the detectives at 213-485-2417. After hours and on weekends, please phone the 24-hour Detective Information Desk at 1-877-LAW-FULL (529-3855).
Seems like many homicides listed on the blog. Did you know that Homicie detectives get paid on call for the weekends only, yet are expected to respond off hours all week long without on call (standby) compensation. Not all if half the homicdes occur on weekends. Also standby pay is 1 hour straight time for every 6 hours off duty, Not to much money. But again only paid on the weekends. What if homicide detectives decided not to come in during the week.
To name a few units that get standby pay all week long. Metro K-9, Swat, bomb squad and others. All needed and worthy. But what makes their jobs more worthy to get paid standby all week long.
Let them come and handle the 187. Where is the league and the department on this issue. compensated for their standby

It is so heartbreaking that there is so much violence. I am shocked at the crimes and amazed with the emergency teams that respond. My heart goes out to your community and I commend the emergency responders that have to see this and deal with these situations several times a day, everyday. I will keep you all in my prayers.
