Congratulations to all? Oh, wait you didn't put all the promotions up! What about the REAL back bone of the department, I don't ever recall seeing P-3, Detective and Sgt's spots up here??? As for the other promotions, congrats to most. But Sherman, Fontanetta and Schwartzer??? These guys couldn't lead a boy scout troop out of MacArthur Park let alone a Police Division! Maybe Sherman can have them build his desk a little higher and build a squatters pillow into the floor next to his desk so he can look down at the troops more than he already does! This lil guy has a serious bout of Napoleon syndrome! This department rewards REMF's! And we wonder why we're in trouble at the top! Unreal, what a joke!

Stay Safe Warriors, it's getting worse!

You are never satisfied. No matter what we can depend on Eddie O' Shea to find something to complain about. No one knows anything but Eddie boy. If you are that unhappy with the way things are going do us all a favor and quit. Mister know it all. You are a real piece of work.

That's great Ronnie, we can always count on you to comment, just to comment, without seeing the obvious substance! See that's why people love to read your drivel! Because your so far out on the fringe and intellectually dishonest that even when a person that you disagree with on a regular basis brings up a valid point, you are incapable of seeing beyond your hatred and yielding to the obvious truth!
See as I have said before Ron, I have done something about the injustices and inequities that I see, by joining the Military then the Police Department and helping the voiceless people that you Ron, propose to speak for! I and my fellow WARRIORS actually do something about it every day, while you on the other hand come on this blog and throw stones! You don't know me, you have no idea what I do for the good people in the down trodden parts of this city! How many of the people in the ghetto's of this city have you given your private cell phone number too Ron in an effort to make then feel safer??? There are over one hundred people out there Ron in south central with my cell number!!! And unlike you, I actually do something about the problems that they call about! Why, because unlike some of the weak sauce up at the top of this Department, I actually really do care about their well being! See I didn't come on this job to be a Chief, I came on to do what the door says, " To protect and to serve!" I don't use it in a punch line at an anti Police rally, I actually believe in it and instead of waxing about it, I DO IT!!! If you were honest and had clarity of vision Ronnie, you would see that what you say you stand for I actually physically do! My father said to me long ago Ron, you don't have to stand tall every time you see something wrong, but you do have to take a stand! And I do!!! I could play hide and seek for 2 grand a week Ron, or I could get out of my Cruiser and chase the predators of this city, and day in and day out, I choose the ladder, no matter what the political environment! So I challenge you Ron, to do some leg work and attempt too use an open mind! The people in this city (especially the good black people) have been and are still being sold a bill of goods by the Chief and Mayor! Lets see if you have the intellectual honesty it takes and can look beyond your disdain for the LAPD and see what I am speaking of! I will be looking forward to your informed and educated assessment, which should be far different from the stance you presently hold!

Stay Safe all,

Ed O'Shea

Ron, maybe this Ed O'Shea character should be appointed to the Chief of Police position since he seems to know it all. And the self described warrior can bring back the good old days of Chief Daryl Gates where the LAPD did whatever it wanted without answering to anybody. After all, we know what a great a legacy Chief Gates left behind for the LAPD warriors.

Nice to see some push back on some posts with the naysayers. The 3 men referenced are not perfect, but they go out and do the best job they can. I'm confident they enjoy the support of many of the men and women they work with. Many who don't sit pounding on the keyboard each night throwing rocks, but go out and do a similarly tough job.

Hey Hector: Chief Gates made "1" mistake and thats letting ingrates like you run a muck down in South Central! Pathetic try though!

Stay Safe all,

Ed O'Shea

Maybe I was born a little too late, maybe I should look into it...but what negative legacy did Gates leave? Are there any former or current LAPD personnel who can shead a light for me?

Speaking from a sworn stand point that came on after Chief Gates was gone. The man is a hero and every Officer I've ever spoken to about the man has nothing but good to say. He made a decision that was second guessed at was viewed as wrong. Any time a city burns someone has to take the blame. Gates took it and more. Try reading his book "Chief". It will shed some light on the man for you.

I know that Gates didn't let the media run this department like that piece of work Bratton. But Bratton is just utilizing this job as a stepping stone. That stupid Macarthur park report is a joke. The big picture is Bratton is trying not to look like the white man keeping the brown man down. But the fact is most of those people are here illegally, throwing rocks and bottles at the police and refusing orders to disperse. It's a no brainer, the police have to take a stand and disperse the crowd, what was done wrong??? What other alternative were there?? Let them run rampant and have another riot?? Wasn't the flash point at Florence and Normandie of the riots a result of
not doing anything and Management unable or afraid to make a decision?? Bratton, you keep promoting idiots and making this department more and more of a carnival.

Thank you ABD officer. I will pick up his book and read it. I used to work for the City as a civilian employee a few years ago and never heard a bad word about Gates...others yes but, not Gates. Thanks again.

Ed, you are never happy.

Well, Ron you Sir are a T-shirt who can be read a mile away! Typical antipolice malcontent who is so obtuse about the realities of Police work, yet professes to know it all! I see you are to cowardice to accept my challenge, but then I expected that from such a callow "individual"! My father used to say "that's all I need to know about that guy!" Referring to people who continually ran their mouths about things they knew NOTHING about, yet FAILED to offer any real and substantive solutions or ideas. I hope your enjoying mediocrity Ron, it suits you!

Happily, your Humble Warrior,
Ed O'Shea

I have done all the research on the L.A.P.D that I need to do!!!
You and I will never see eye to eye on certain things You may want me to give in and see it your way on everything but that's not going to happen. Ed,somethings you say make sense and I do think you are a honest hard working man. I just don't agree with you all the time, for instance with Sean Mead,MacArthur park. We will never see eye to eye on both of these. Sorry but that's just the way it is. One more thing about the CD it's time realize what would have happen if the city had gone to court and lost.

Hey Ed, how's the "war" going in West Los Angeles?

Well, Ron, I think this is the best exchange you and I have had yet. I may have been a bit too harsh on you at times and I apologize for being a little edgy. Obviously we do not agree on everything, and believe it or not I don't want to change your mind about anything, but I do want to give you some facts and issues to consider when basing your decisions on the LAPD. All I want to do is offer a perspective to you and the community that you don't have (the Patrol Officers) and the department doesn't really put forth. Also Ron, you might want to consider the LAPD citizen academy, it will offer you a completely different view of the LAPD and I think, judging from your obvious passion for the city, you will be much more a part of the solution after completion of it. It will not try and change your mind on things but give you the insight as to what types of training we Officers go through and if you have better ideas after going through the academy, we're open to them. We as a Police Department are always looking for ways to improve ourselves, and the service we offer to the community some times not with the best results, but we're trying and it takes two to make a relationship work.
Instead of challenging you this time Ron I am asking you to give the LAPD citizen academy some thought and look into it. I and my fellow Officers, and the people of this city will only benefit from people like you (meaning people that are engaged in thought provoking discourse for this city) going through the training. This city will only get safer with people like you involved and trained. I don't have all the information on the Citizen academy, but I know you can research it on LAPDonline.
All my fellow Officers and I ask is that people keep an open mind and realize that we're all in this together and that we Officers be treated fairly as well. Thanks for your kind words as well Ron I appreciate them. And thanks for being involved.

Cheers,
Ed

This next line is for some of the more cowardice Officers we have on this blog!

"Open" discourse is a healthy component of a free society unfortunately we Officers have to use pseudonyms on this blog because if we don't we will reap a financial loss from the attacks of our upper echelon on this department. And that would devastate our families. And those are just FACTS! Any Officer who comes on this blog and attempts to out another Officer for standing up for the People of this city and the Officers that protect them is a complete coward and a chump! If you do know me then feel free to approach me and we can discuss any issues you might have! If you do know me, which obviously you don't, then you know just how ready I am at all times to have that conversation!!!!

To All the real Warriors out there, Stay Safe! To all the pretenders get your minds right and you reap what you sow!

Ed O'Shea

Ron,

What research have you done? By research, do you mean reading the BS articles written by the communist LA times? That's not research. That's just pure hate; written by supposed journalists who write only half of a one-sided story. By research, do you mean you have actually talked to a Police Officer from the LAPD, or maybe even gone a ride-a-long with an Officer? Ever been to a crime scene or Homicide being investigated by the LAPD? I for one would like to know what "research" you have done to be such an expert on the subject of police work, the Consent Decree, MacArthur Park and some of our so called "leaders" of this department?

Some of us are just tired of being scrutinized for putting bad guys in jail, then being told how screwed up of a job we've done by the likes of you. Would you like being second guessed and micro managed on the way you do your job? Nope. Well......neither do we.

Code one first of all I am not about to sit here and give you a list what I have or have not done. I will tell this I born and raised is Los Angeles and have lived here for 60 years. Yes I have talked to lots of cops.

Ed,the one thing I like about is you speak your mind. No your are not to harsh on me. I can take it and then some more. I doubt if I could pass the physical with my high BP,and my diabetes. But I will look into this.

After talking to my wife she made realize what I would do if I or she was being attacked by a dog and I had a gun. I would shoot the dog so you have made me wake up to that FACT.

Also the complaint system, I still think everyone should be able to complain about anything they want to but there should be something in place to seperate the BS from the Real Complaints, and the BS Complaints should not be counted against the office. The ones that come in with no name round file. If you can't put name on it and stand up for what your are complaining about then you should not complain. I posted my real name. RON

Still waiting, Ed. You promised, so quit inkslinging and let's go for a cuppa joe before the holidays. Let's see if you get the clue...
