Los Angeles: A man accused of robbing five homes in the West Los Angeles area during the past three weeks is being sought by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
Since May 31, 2008, investigators believe the bandit targets elderly female victims. The robberies occurred during the late-night and early-morning hours. According to investigators, the suspect would enter the home through a window wearing all dark clothing, a ski-mask and gloves. He then awakens the victim and demands money and jewelry. Afterwards, the suspect ransacks the victim’s home and flees.
The following homes were recently robbed:
- May 31, 2025 - 3:30 a.m., 2200 block of Patricia Avenue
- June 04, 2025 - 5:00 a.m., 10500 block of Cushdon Avenue
- June 07, 2025 - 2:00 a.m., 1700 block of Bundy Drive
- June 14, 2025 - 3:50 a.m., 2500 block of Kelton Avenue
- June 18, 2025 - 2:50 a.m., 2700 block of Manning Avenue
The suspect is described as a male Black between 25-35 years of age. He stands 6 feet tall and weighs between 200-220 pounds.
"In light of these recent string of robberies, it is more important than ever that senior citizens take precautions, lock doors and windows, use alarm systems, increase outdoor lighting to deter burglars, and contact law enforcement regarding any suspicious activity," said Councilmember Jack Weiss who chairs the Public Safety Committee. "Those are good safety precautions for everyone to prevent crime at home."
In addition to these safety precautions, the LAPD encourages community members to photograph and engrave their valuables such as jewelry, silverware, and artwork, to use as an identifying tool.
If you know the identity of this robber, please contact Robbery-Homicide Division Detectives Jason De La Cova or Tracey Benjamin at 213-485-2511. After-hours and on weekends, calls may be directed to a 24-hour, toll-free number at 1-877-LAW-FULL (529-3855). Callers may remain anonymous.
I remember when Metro would be tasked with putting together a detail to catch a serial robbery suspect like this. I guess crime suppression is too important.

Very true, NDynamite. Those were the pro-active days when quality was better than quantity.

I thought homes could not be robbed, they are burglarized, the people inside are robbed.

Or how about "Home invasion robbery."

"Home invasion" is a Chicago-ism and appears in the Illinois criminal code as a distinct offense. I seem to remember the LA parlance for these robberies is "hot prowl," and I imagine they are charged under Section 211 of your Penal Code (?). For press purposes, the term I'd use is "residential robbery."

It happened again about 3:20 a.m. in the 2100 block of Pelham Avenue in West Los Angeles. Same general neighborhood, same type of home invasion. Again the victim was an elderly woman.
