RE: The movement of officers from West L.A. division out to backfill other divisions.

It is reported that the West L.A. division is expected to lose a considerable number of officers in the next few months, a move that can have disastrous consequences for several neighborhoods like La Cienega Heights, that are already under siege with criminal activity, including murder, armed and or violent robberies, flagrant drug dealing, tagging, street racing, intimidation by thugs and general lawlessness.

This will push these communities back 20 years in terms of crime. Community activists, like myself and my neighbors put our lives in harms way to aid our city partners in taking our neighborhoods back from criminals, a move like this will further endanger our lives and erode our quality of life.
Because the West side is considered a better area than other parts of town is not an appropriate excuse, are we to let the West side deteriorate into gangland before we end up bringing the officers back!?!

Not to mention the conditions for our hard working officers left behind. As example, this last summer saw a gang of thugs harrasing WLAPD as they tried to aprehend a tagging suspect. A mob of thugs gathered around the officers and tried to intimidate them. The official report likened the crowd to a "lynching". This is outrageous criminal behavior!

It is important to note, that our community is by far a slum... houses sell for $500-$900,000, and it is still battling crime .It is also fair to note that I pay $10,000 a year in property taxes alone (not including State taxes)

HOW MUCH DO WE HAVE TO PAY TO KEEP OUR OFFICERS WHERE THEY ARE?

CHIEF BRATTON AND ANTONIOVILLARAIGOSA:
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE OUR MUCH NEEDED OFFICERS FROM THE WEST SIDE COMMUNITIES.
