Here is a quote from the L.A. Times regarding the police response to the Lakers mini-riot (an ongoing event here in L.A.):

"Eight Los Angeles police offers suffered minor injuries, 21 people were arrested, 12 government vehicles, including six MTA buses, were damaged, and one traffic light was knocked down, authorities said."

Welcome to the "new" crowd control policies of the LAPD. In the new policies, police officers are political fodder and officers getting hurt and hopitalized is acceptable to our "city leaders" and the ACLU. Heaven forbid the officers take any decisive action against looters and hoodlums.

The "new" crowd control squads for the Lakers parade now consists of 1 lieutenant, 6 supervisors, and 55 officers. I guess the old squads of one sergeant and 10 officers were not enough to accomodate all the injuries, which will reduce the size of the squad. Now we need over 50 officers in a squad due to the fact that we are gentler and less violent.

Businesses and residents of the downtown area will get the police response they deserve.

Jeez!!!
