October 23, 2024 – In what has been a long-standing tradition within the Department, the Robbery Homicide Division held a formal inspection of its officers. Standing in “platoon” formation in front of the new Police Administration Building, the Squad Leader called the officers to attention. Outgoing Police Chief William J. Bratton, who was conducting his last inspection as Chief, walked the ranks of officers, stopping at each one and inspecting their appearance.
Afterward the group of officers, detectives and civilian employees gathered in front of the new Police Memorial to listen to their leader offer his sincere gratitude for all of their hard work over the years.
“You are a great organization and it has been my privilege to serve with you for seven years,” said Chief Bratton. “Thank you for the opportunity to serve with you. Thank you for the opportunity to tell your story. Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of what has been an exciting journey.”
The Robbery Homicide Division is one of the most historic, well know and successful entities of the Los Angeles Police Department. Its officers investigate homicides, bank robberies, serial robberies, extortions, sexual assaults, and kidnappings on a city-wide basis. Robbery Homicide Division is also responsible for incidents that result in injury or death to a police officer, and threats against officers. Detectives assigned to the division have a high level of expertise.
