This is a reminder that the Burbank school teacher who was arrested for sexual assault is not related to Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Chief Charlie Beck. Several media outlets have reported that the woman was related to Beck. This information is inaccurate. The accurate information is that the woman’s husband is an LAPD officer. The officer is not Beck’s son nor is he a relative.
Media coverage of this heinous crime have been outrageous, blaming the victim, glorifying the perpetrator, and making the perps husband sound like a moron. Sex crimes against children are the worst and if this woman's husband takes her back after her slap on the hand sentence, society should take his badge and his children. If that was my 14 year old, it would be film at 11.

Will Chief Beck take a blood test to confirm that he's not a blood relative of the officer?
What happened to transparency?
Trust but verify said the great man, Ronald Reagan.

This woman's husband is NOT a victim, he is an enabler...he is standing by her. She molested no matter how bad she felt afterwords she shattered this young persons life. I would like to know what the husband knew and when and if that was a motivating factor in her remorse?

Victim once too.... You assume an awful lot. From what I heard, and from someone very close to the family (not assumed), this guy suspected his wife was stepping out on him, but had NO idea it was a 14 year old child. When he finally confronted her about the possibility of her being unfaithful, just days prior to her turning herself in, she told him she was, and with a former student. He then told her that he would turn her into the Police if she didn't do it herself. She did, and no one knows if he is "standing by her." So ease up on the broad painting, and finger pointing without all the facts. That's like me, A Police Officer, saying all male blacks and Hispanics with white T-shirts are gang members.
Sounds like your situation was a bad one and you are judging another by the wrong that you were dealt. Not very fair, considering this guy has just had his world shattered, and you have very little facts to support your position.
I find her actions disgusting and my prayers are for the 15 year old victim, the Officer and his children.
So make no mistake, this Officer and his children are victims in this horrible situation as well.
This Officer was also stabbed in the neck down in Watts several months back by a gang member. So ease up on him, he has walked the line that you and most others would NEVER have the courage to walk.
I hope you get some closure in your case someday, it sounds like you got a number done to you, and that's very sad.

Mr. O'Shea,
I ahve no desier to go toe to toe with you on this subject. According to another news article a quote from the husband said in part that he loved her, he was standing by her and that they would work through this. I do not know the whole story but if he did make those statements then he is not the victim in any of this. I do feel sorry for those kids but that's about as much as I can muster right now. Respecfully submitted...

Many men on this force wish they were that 14yr old once when young. Don't forget this part.

Mrs. Beck is a hero and inspiration to every young man in Middle School.

As someone who's attended Junior High, and know the difficulties of hormones and peer pressure, I too stand by Mrs. Beck.

In many cultures around the world, a 14 yr old would be considered a MAN. The concept of the teenager is a new construct.
I understand the Laws to protect an older Man preying on young girls or even young boys. Those laws should stand and be enforced to its full extent.
But we should seriously consider making an exemption for sex between a beautiful Woman and a young Man. This is the perfect example of a victimless crime.

Free Mrs Beck, you are truly a sick individual. The law has no exception. Our children are protected by law from adult predators until they are at least 16 with consent; 18 without. Anyone who would take advantage of a caretaker relationship is after power and domination, and it is SICK, and you are SICK. And a woman who disrespects her husband and her children in this manner is NOT a beautiful woman; she is a dog.

Whatever happened to "innocent until proven guilty?" Also, if a 15 year old can be tried as an adult for a capitol crime, why is he not considered an adult in this case? We cant have it both ways in this country.

I hope special victims will help internal affairs identify the pedophiles who have posted here to at least make sure they are not wearing a badge. I have no trouble identifying them, and since I am no longer a child will be glad to see them flushed out, and then simply...flushed away. Just for the record, Beck plead guilty, declined a bail hearing and threw herself on the mercy of the court, which she received, completely avoiding the judgment of twelve citizens, which might have made it more difficult for the judge to be so lenient. She got some real good advice, and it is alarming to think that it may have come from the LE community. Remember this next time you have to pull a 17 year old girl from under the brush near a river, because I am sure the perp will have had an abuser just like this in his past. Most people have no idea of the consequences of the unaddressed rage of the victims of child abuse. Please think about it. However, thanks to cops and shrinks, not all victims of child abuse grow up to be abusers. Some of us grow up to catch them. "Free" might be free right now, but not forever.
