Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department Valley Traffic Detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating a truck involved in a hit and run collision, in which a bicyclist was struck while he was riding in the roadway this afternoon.
On April 16, 2010, at around 12:17 p.m., a 43-year-old man was riding his bicycle in the cemented portion of the lane, closest to the curb, westbound Oxnard Street just west of Fulton Ave. Witnesses described the hit and run only as a truck, driven by a male Caucasian. The truck was traveling westbound on Oxnard Street attempting to pass the bicyclist. Witnesses state that a metal object attached to the truck possibly struck the bicyclist. The driver left the scene failing to render aid and exchange information as required by law.
The 43-year-old man was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries and he is listed in serious condition. There is no further description on the truck.

Why is the title of this story "traffic accident" ? This is a hit and run CRIME!!! If LAPD really cares about finding the suspect then at minimum get the title right so that someone - potentially a witness - doesn't just skim past the story. Come on LAPD you of all people NEED to get this right!!!

What's with the title "Traffic Accident"? In the body of the piece, you state it was a hit and run collision -- the cyclist was left with severe injuries and in serious condition. The driver failed to render aid. That makes it a hit and run crime, not a "traffic accident."
