I hope something is done about this. We can't have Peace Officers breaking the peace. Protect and Serve.

Would bike safety mean not getting tripped by an officer?

Well, the first thing you can do is make these mass bike ride organizers apply for and get a permit for the massive rides they have. Prior to the rides. These rides are unsafe with the number of drunken riders, mixed with the and all out lawlessness some engage in while they make their way through the city. Someone is going to get killed. The ones I've been on through Midnite Riddazz, have left me in the dust, because they all go through all the red lights.

Next, educate your police officers in the fact that not all of these bike riders are law breaking riders. Some of us respect and appreciate the police and the protection they provide to us. And I have seen several LAPD police cars and officers stop traffic for us along the way. Especially west los angeles LAPD. So not all officers are bad, just like not all the riders are bad.

And finally, if the city were serious about it's "plans" for comprehensive bicycle transportation infrastructure, all this would be a moot point. Because most of the city would have bicycle paths and routes in place, so the non-cycling public and the LAPD would be educated by inoculation.

The city needs to step up and get these phantom bicycle paths/lanes COMPLETE!!!!!

For Chief Beck,. Keep your nose out of and opinions about Arizona's immigration law to yourself. Worry about L.A. not what Arizona is doing. Please don't hop on the politically correct bandwagon.... I thought you were better than that. But I know L.A. is a sanctuary city, so I suppose you want to keep your job...

From a copper with 23+ yrs on...

Ken J.,

What does that have to do with Bike Week?
