Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is mourning the death of a 24 year veteran who was tragically killed on the freeway while riding his motorcycle.
Today, shortly after 11 am, a 24 year veteran of the LAPD assigned to Foothill Area Detectives was riding his motorcycle on his way to work. He was driving northbound on the 101 freeway at the 110 interchange. As he was passing a Big Rig truck, he lost control of his motorcycle and fell. The passing truck ran over the officer's motorcycle and then the officer.
Witnesses immediately stopped and rendered aid, while also notifying police. The officer was transported to County USCMC where emergency staff did all they could to save the officer. Unfortunately, shortly after 2:30 p.m., the officer succumbed to his injuries.
The name of the officer will not be released until the next of kin has been notified.
This is so sad. I know him and his family. I went to school with his son and visit their church often. We will definitely miss him!

Jessie was a very good friend and I looked up to him like a brother. My heart fell when my wife told me the news through SKYPE. I will remember him for the rest of my days.
