• Police Commissioner Robert Saltzman said he had a very productive meeting with Deputy Chief Hara regarding the relationship between the Department and the transgender community.
• Chief Charlie Beck congratulated Police Commission President Richard Drooyan on his recent appointment to President of the Commission. The Chief also stated he attended the World Police and Fire Games which took place in New York City last week. He said one of the highlights of the games was the Women’s Basketball team bringing back a gold medal. Chief Beck also stated the Department is preparing for the upcoming anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks by ensuring staffing levels are at full strength. He completed his report by saying he attended the closing ceremonies for the Summer Night Lights program which he added was a very successful program.
• The verbal presentation and update from the Commanding Officer and Community Police Advisory Board (C-PAB) representative regarding community initiated problem solving, crime strategies, and other programs and goals within the Northeast Area was given by Captain William Murphy. Captain Murphy said the Northeast C-PAB now has a Facebook page and all of their reading material is available online. He added every quarter they hold their regularly scheduled meeting in the field in order to increase attendance numbers. Captain Murphy finished by saying they are holding an emergency preparedness exercise in November and have expanded their Graffiti Unit.

• The Department’s report, dated August 23, 2011, relative to Contract No. 11112360 to present the Robert Presley Institute of Criminal Investigation (ICI) courses – July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2012, was approved and transmitted to the Mayor.
• The Department’s report, dated August 23, 2011, relative to transmittal of the budget modification for the 2009 Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force – Recovery Act Program, was approved and transmitted to the Mayor and City Council.
• The Department’s report, dated August 26, 2011, relative to DNA monthly report for July 2011, was approved and transmitted to the City Council.
• The Department’s report, dated August 30, 2024 relative to destruction of obsolete duplicate records for South Traffic Division, was approved and transmitted to City Clerk, Records Management Officer.
• The Department’s report, dated August 31, 2011, relative to Ethics Enforcement Section Quarterly Report, Second Quarter 2011, was received. The Board directed the Office of the Inspector General to submit an analysis of this report along with any appropriate recommendations to the Board.
