September 8, 2024 –The Sunshine Kids returned to LA for a six consecutive year. This year 25 children from different US cities were sworn in as honorary police officers for the day. The daylong event began with a roof-top swearing-in ceremony at the Universal City Sheraton. The kids received Junior Police Officer badges, certificates and gift bags. After being sworn in as police officers, the children and their assigned partners drove away in black and white vehicles with lights and sirens on. Their destination was Raleigh Studios where they were scheduled to have lunch with Chief Charlie Beck.
During the ceremony Assistant Chief Michel Moore praised the children for their courage “In you we see ourselves, our hopes and dreams, we see people with huge obstacles and challenges and who take them on with a smile and courage. You make us all proud to be Americans.”
