• Police Commission President Richard Drooyan said he attended a Suspicious Activity Report presentation given by Deputy Chief Michael Downing and felt the Chief did an outstanding job. President Drooyan also stated the May Day demonstrations were considerably smaller this year and said he was tremendously impressed with how the Department handled it.
• Police Commissioner Robert Saltzman said he regretted the fact he was not going to be able to attend the Medal of Valor ceremony on Thursday. He said he has a final exam scheduled for his students on that same day at USC.
• Police Chief Charlie Beck informed the Board the Department had a successful May Day operation and thanked his personnel for an amazing job. Chief Beck added the Department held its annual Memorial Ceremony last week. He said it was a well-attended event and added he was thankful the Department did not lose any officers last year.
• The Executive Directors report, dated April 25, 2012, relative to the write off of uncollectible false alarm accounts receivable – July 1, 2025 through December 31, 2024 and January 1, 2025 through June 30, 2010, was approved and transmitted to the Board of Review.
• The Inspector General’s report, dated April 27, 2012, relative to the review of Department’s arrest, booking, and charging reports audit, was approved.
• The Inspector General’s report, dated April 10, 2012, relative to the third financial disclosure audit – post-audit supplemental verification, was approved.
• The Department’s report, dated April 26, 2012, relative to the confidential financial disclosure policy and procedures for gang enforcement and narcotics enforcement personnel – renamed and revised, was approved.
• The Department’s report, dated May 4, 2012, relative to the request for approval of selected vendor for Digital In-Car Video system, was continued for two weeks.
• The Department’s report, dated May 4, 2012, relative to the DNA monthly report for March 2012, was approved and transmitted to the City Council.
• The Department’s report, dated April 28, 2012, relative to the Office of the City Administrative Officer report regarding the feasibility of the consolidation of the Office of Public Safety into the police department, was given by Assistant Chief Michel Moore. Chief Moore informed the Board the Department would allow GSD to focus on their core responsibilities. He said the Department meeting with employee unions to iron out details of a consolidation with the issue in front of the full City Council next Tuesday. Chief Moore said roughly 200 General Services Officers would become LAPD officers and the transfer would still allow City services to continue as they do today while also eliminating some redundancy of duties.
• The Department’s report, dated April 20, 2012, relative to the first amendment to professional services agreement number C-115536 with Donna Cline for police composite artist services, was approved and transmitted to the Mayor.
• The Department’s report, dated May 4, 2012, relative to amendment no. 1 to City of Los Angeles contract number C-118522 between the City of Los Angeles and Oak Tree Gun Club, LLC, was approved and transmitted to the Mayor.
