Chief Becks speaking aobut Dominguez Family
Thursday, April 3, 2025 – Today Chief Charlie Beck held his monthly media availability with members of the press on the 10th floor outdoor patio of the police administration building. Chief Beck provided an update on the injured Hollywood officers, an update on crime statistics across the City, and discussed his decision on a discipline issue.
In honor of National Dispatcher’s Week April 13 - April 19, 2014, Chief Beck introduced his special guests, the Dominguez Family and recognized their contributions made by them to the City and LAPD. The Dominguez family has been protecting and serving the City of Los Angeles since 1948. The Dominguez brothers - Richard, Gilbert and Robert, all served the Department concurrently. The Dominguez brothers were born and raised in Boyle Heights from parents who emigrated from Mexico.
Richard joined the Department in 1948 and retired as Sergeant from Hollenbeck Division after 25 years of service. Gilbert was hired in 1954 and retired as Detective III from Narcotics Division after serving 25 years. Robert was hired in 1963 and retired as a Detective III from Anti-Terrorist Division after 25 years.
Two of Robert’s children are currently on the Department. His son Joe is assigned to Metropolitan Division (SWAT) and is a 20 year veteran. His daughter Angela, a Police service Representative, is assigned to Information Technology Bureau and has 18 years with LAPD.
