Commission President Steve Soboroff opened the meeting and a quorum was established. There were no commission comments, and the meeting proceeded directly to the chief’s report.
For the Report of the Chief of Police, Chief Charlie Beck began by commenting about the Department’s policing of the Academy Awards ceremony this past weekend. The ceremony occurred without incident. Chief Beck also discussed an alert the LAPD recently received from the Department of Homeland Security concerning safety at shopping malls. Consequently, both patrols and foot beats in those areas have been increased as needed. Chief Beck was happy to report that after two “bad” weekends of gang-related shootings, this past weekend yielded only two such incidents. He attributed the decline mostly to improved deployment strategies. Chief Beck reminded everyone about his continuing concern over rising crime and proceeded to provide some specific crime and traffic accident statistics. He closed his comments with personnel statistics.
Consent Agenda Items proceeded with approval of all items.
Regular Agenda Items then ensued with two items. Item A was a verbal presentation, and Item B, the Department’s Report, dated February 13, 2015, relative to the destruction of obsolete duplicate records for Pacific and Hollywood Areas, as set forth, was approved.
The meeting proceeded with Item A, a verbal presentation about community initiated problem solving, crime strategies, and other programs and goals within LAPD’s Van Nuys Area. Representing the Department before the commission was Captain III Lillian Carranza, Commanding Officer of the Van Nuys Area, and Penny Myers, the area’s Community Police Advisory Board president.

I sent my daughter yesterday to the Southwest division on MLK yesterday to report that her license plates had been stolen. well short version whoever was at the desk yesterday is lazy and useless. All they wanted to do was pass the buck to someone else, who wanted to pass the buck to DMV. Saying maybe it's a mistake. no take a report stop being lazy. You what I'm and me and my entire family will never never vote for anything for you ever again. you don't care well guess what neither do I. If anyone cares which I don't think so you can take this as formal complaint about who ever was on des duty yesterday.
