Bratton is finally going to cave to pressure and release the SWAT BOI. Finally some of that much talked about transparency. I'm sure many readers of the BOI will be shocked how SWAT is maligned and slandered by this biased and ill conceived report. The Chief used a board of non qualified lawyers and command staff officers in an attempt to put his stamp on SWAT and change it to the ill conceived "east coast" model. The "west coast" (LAPD SWAT model) has worked for years as proven by the stats in the BOI. D team members are rightly concerned about the lowering of standards. Despite what the Chief says the standards are being lowered and no matter what this blog says that is not "positive" change. Many have shared their concerns only to be threatened and intimidated. ("If you don't like it go somewhere else, Keep your mouth shut or you are back in patrol, and the old desk treatment) Transparency and openness only work when convenient for this Chief. He changes policy at the whim of every special interest group. (ie flashlights, shooting at moving vehicles.)However when his own question him we are threatened with the "Godfather" treatment.

To JB: Right on! As an Italian-American Officer I'm taken back and feel threatened by Chief Bratton's recitation of scenes from "The Godfather." If any other officer, especially one of Italian heritige made similar comments he or she would be sent to BSS and have IAG jumping on their back. Bratton is turning out to be a worse Chief than BCP and the LAPD is never going to recover. I don't blame officers for jumping ship or retiring early.
