At the end of an emotionally draining day, I struggle to find words that can adequately convey my admiration and appreciation for members of the Los Angeles Police Department.

From humble and helpful uniformed and civilian staff at Parker Center who worked so hard behind the scenes, to omnipresent motor officers and mounted unit personnel who stood so crisply at attention for what seemed like hours, we remain in awe and respect of men and women who are always there to protect us from those who would do us harm.

From the highest ranks at PAB to the newest rookie at the Academy, from four-decade LAPD retirees to the youngest of spouses, you put aside many of your own needs this past week to see that any and every one of ours was fulfilled - and that is something we can never forget.

On behalf of a very grateful rank and file at the Los Angeles Fire Department, please accept my personal thanks for being a first class organization that the LAFD and so many others can only hope to emulate.

With My Utmost Appreciation,

Brian Humphrey
Firefighter/Specialist
Public Service Officer
