NOTES FOR THE JUNE 17, 2025 POLICE COMMISSION WEEKLY MEETING
- Police Commission President Anthony Pacheco joined Commissioner Andrea Ordin at a fundraiser for the Mexican Bar Association.
- Police Commission President Anthony Pacheco will meet with Councilmember Bill Rosendahl to discuss issues in the 11th Council District.
- Commissioner Robert Saltzman attended the West Bureau Command Officers meeting.
- Commissioner Andrea Ordin will participate in the Skid Row Pro Bono Clinic to aid the 50 homeless persons selected with housing and legal assistance.
- Police Commission President Anthony Pacheco invited the community to attend the Chief’s Community Forum Summit on June 19, 2008.
- Chief William Bratton reported this Friday’s graduating recruit class will bring the Department to more than 9,700 officers.
- Executive Director Richard Tefank announced by August 1, 2008, Police Commission agendas and staff reports, as well as Commission meetings will be available for viewing online.
- Executive Director Richard Tefank also stated Community Police Relations will be included in next week’s agenda.
- Sergeant Roland Fogel was recognized by the Police Commission for his efforts in acquiring 20 digital cameras for each traffic unit, which will greatly aid in the reduction of downtime and the increase in efficiency in traffic investigations. Commissioner Alan Skobin commended Sgt. Fogel and Police Administrator Rhonda Sims-Lewis for their hard work on this project.
- The Department’s verbal update and power point presentation, relative to the status of the new Police Administration Building, Metropolitan Jail, and other Police construction projects as presented by Facilities Management Division Police Administrator Thom Brennan was received. He reported a year from today, all major construction projects should be completed. Rampart, Hollenbeck, Harbor, Olympic/Mid-Cities, Topanga Area Stations, Metropolitan Detention Center, EOC/DOC/Fire Dispatch Center, and Police Administration Building are in construction and nearing final completion. West Valley, Metro Bomb Squad, Valley Bomb Squad and Valley Traffic/Operations Valley Bureau facilities have been completed. Funding for renovations of Elysian Park Academy, Northeast Area and the former Rampart Area Station is in the works. Assistant Chief Jim McDonnell praised Police Administrator Thom Brennan and his staff for their efforts.
- The Department’s verbal presentation and update relative to the status of the Autism Awareness Program Training as presented by Captain Ann Young was received. Captain Young informed the Commission that she has met with the Training Unit in an effort to extend outreach to the rest of the Department. Her staff will continue to provide training to Department personnel in addition to creating a training bulleting with Training Division and developing a video to release to the entire Department. Captain Young expects all roll call training to be completed by the end of the year.
- The Department’s report, dated June 9, 2008, relative to the Gang Enforcement Division (GED), Selection Criteria Audit, Third Quarter, Fiscal Year 2006/2007, (AD No. 06-011), dated March 27, 2007, Recommendation No. 1, was received and filed.
- The Department’s report, dated May 30, 2008, relative to the Office of the Inspector General’s Review of the Department’s Confidential Control Package Audit, December 27, 2007, was received and filed.
- The Department’s report, dated June 9, 2008, relative to the Warrant Applications and Supporting Affidavits Audit, Second Quarter, December 28, 2007, AD No. 07-002, Recommendation No. AD 03, was received and filed.
- The Department’s report, dated May 30, 2008, relative to the Office of the Inspector General’s Complaint Investigations Audit, Fiscal Year 2007/2008, dated February 7, 2008, Recommendation Item Nos. IG-01A through IG-01-E, and IG-02, was received and filed.
- The Department’s report, dated June 13, 2008, relative to the Department’s Non-Confidential Informant Program, was approved.
- The Inspector General’s report, dated June 6, 2008, relative to the Office of the Inspector General’s Training Evaluation and Management System II Audit, Phase II, as presented by Inspector General André Birotte, Jr. and TEAMS II Development Bureau Police Administrator Maggie Goodrich was approved. Inspector Birotte reported his staff is working with supervisors to develop more automatic systems generated action items. Police Administrator Goodrich added by developing a manual, simplifying the process and eliminating duplication of efforts, the Department should see improvement in the system.
- The Department’s report, dated June 2, 2008, relative to the Confidential Informant Control Package Audit, Fourth Quarter, Fiscal Year 2003/2004, September 28, 2004, Recommendation Nos. 02, 06, and 07, was received and filed.
- The Executive Director’s Report, dated June 12, 2008, in response to a City Council Motion (Council File No. 08-0418) relative to the Official Police Garage Boundaries, was approved and transmitted to the City Council.
