• Police Commission President Anthony Pacheco attended the Anti-Terrorism Intelligence section meeting and found it to be very productive. He was also impressed with the quality and skill of the individuals in the section.
• Police Commissioner Robert Saltzman observed the Department’s response to a single victim action in the Wilshire area. He was very impressed with what he saw. Commissioner Saltzman also suggested, with respect to donations to the Explorer program, an accounting of all donations made and by whom. He also asked for an update on where the Department is at with regards to the Explorer program.
• Police Commissioner Andrea Ordin attended a reception given by the Oscar Joel Bryant Foundation for the recent command staff promotions. She also attended the new recruit graduation and said the class was extraordinarily energetic.
• Police Commissioner Alan Skobin attended the Chief’s Religions Forum and the Police Protective League’s Eagle and Badge Dinner. He also attended the reception given by the Oscar Joel Bryant Foundation for the recent command staff promotions. Commissioner Skobin met with City Controller Laura Chick to discuss the reserve police officer program and their stipends.
• Police Commission Vice President John Mack attended the Oscar Joel Bryant Foundation reception and a breakfast sponsored by the Association of Black Law Enforcement Executives.
• Police Chief Bratton announced homicide numbers are in the negative for the first time this year. He also stated that since 2002, all Part One crime is in the negative. The Chief also mentioned the first class of the Counter-Terrorism Academy Pilot Program was set to graduate and the second class is already in session. The program is the first of its kind in the nation.
• The Verbal Presentation and update from the Commanding Officer and Community Police Advisory Board (C-PAB) representative regarding community initiated problem solving, crime strategies, and other programs and goals within the North Hollywood Area was given by Captain Buck. She stated by working with the North Hollywood C-PAB, the area has seen an 80% reduction in gang homicides.
• The Department’s report, dated July 1, 2008, Request Approval of Supplemental Agreement to Contract No. C-108071 with Robert J. Mundy for Equine Farrier Services, was approved and transmitted to the Mayor.
• The Department’s report, dated July 7, 2008, relative to the Criminal Case Filing Rates of Individuals Arrested - Second Quarter Report (April 1 through June 30, 2025), was approved.
• The Department’s report, dated July 9, 2008, relative to the Adjudication of Categorical Use of Force Incidents, was approved.
• The Department’s report, dated June 30, 2008, relative to the Report on Workload Statistics of the City’s Official Police Garages in 2007, was received and filed.
