Birthday and Graduation Celebration Turns Deadly

Los Angeles:  A radio call of a “stabbing just occurred,” turns into a call for Homicide Detectives.

On April 11, 2009, at 11:45 p.m., Devonshire Area Patrol Officers responded to a “stabbing just occurred” radio call in the 8800 block of Corbin Avenue.  When the officers arrived, partygoers who were attending the birthday and graduation celebration directed the officers to two males who were suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Through witness accounts, three male suspects with shaved heads, wearing white t-shirts and dark colored pants, attacked the victims in front of the location as they were leaving the party.  The stabbings appear to be the result of an attempted robbery.

Los Angeles City Fire Department personnel also responded and immediately began to treat 20-year-old Haik Oganyan for multiple stab wounds.  Mr. Oganyan, a resident of Los Angeles, was transported to a local hospital where he died.  The second victim was also transported to a nearby hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Devonshire Homicide Detective Michael Fesperman at 818-832-0609.  During off-hours, calls may be directed to a 24-hour, toll-free number at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (527-3247).  Callers may also text “Crimes” with a cell phone or log on to www.lapdonline.org and click on Web tips. When using a cell phone, all messages should begin with “LAPD.”  Tipsters may remain anonymous.
