It seems like youtube is exposing more and more unwarranted police acts on video, ie Hollywood bicycle kicking officers, Seattle punching jaywalkers, May 1 brutalities, etc.

Is there statistical analyses on how much youtube is exposing bad behavior and the effects of this in the field for the regular patrol officer?

I definitely have my phone video camera ready whenever I see arrests taking place.

What I find interesting is the cowardice running rampant among the so-called videophile members of the public. Why? Because there is never a video of a drive-by shooting vehicle, an armed robber in action, a home burglar breaking into the neighbor's house, of gangbangers spraypainting private property, of drug deals in the neighborhoods. Only video people are interested in shooting is of police officers, hoping for a GOTCHA moment.

In Venice, a so-called minister goes around with a video camera recording police stops. He does this while saying hello to gangbangers selling crack cocaine on the corners. Yeah, real heroes. Cowards is more like it.

The Seattle Police Officer did nothing wrong, and to the contrary showed great restraint. He should have tazed or sprayed the two un-civilized females, instead of tangle with them. As for the video recording of us Police Officers? Knock it out champ, just be sure not to interfere. I love when know-it-alls video tape me during a stop or a scuffle. They think they're going to catch us dirty, but I explain to them, when safe to do so, that I am following policy and the law, and all their video is going to do is exonerate me of any wrong doing or criminal behavior. Film me all you want I say!!!! Again, if you interfere (148 PC), you'll be recording your own demise, of which I will more than love to give commentary to while on the stand in court. Filming goes both ways nowadays, and I record all the poor behavior by the hooligans out there. You all hate it when we record you. But you reap what you sow, and we're in a very technologically advanced moment in time right now. Most people that are up to no good or acting inappropriately, hate to be recorded. It's a human thing, not just a Police Officer thing. Look at this pathetic excuse for a NC Democrat Congressman who man-handled the teenager for asking him a very straight forward, yet very respectable question. Only problem was that the teenagers had the audacity to video record the incident. And WOW, did the Congressman display conduct unbecoming of a US Congressman! I mean a truly a despicable and unconscionable response. Good thing these kids recorded it. Notice the difference in the way these kids responded to the congressman, than that of the cyclist recording in Hollywood. Momma always said, "son, you get further with sugar than you do with salt."

Cameras are EVERYWHERE, so we all have to get used to it, and embrace it. All of us!
And the mass cyclists, riding around drunk and nude, need to be aware that they hurt the cycling communities chances by engaging in the obscene and drunken behavior. They do FAR more damage to their cause, than one police office kicking a pedal does to the LAPD. Most people look at these mass cycling rides as a very dangerous and volatile group of drunken malcontents, bullying people with their 300+ cyclists on a Saturday night engulfing cars at red lights (that they even stop for) and harassing motorists.
I say youtube away my friend! I love it. It keep everyone honest, and reveals much more in the way of helping law enforcement than to the contrary. Just press play/record!

PS I think groups like Midnight Riddazz have contributed back to the community positively in quite a few areas. But, they need to get a hold of the criminal element on their rides if they are to have any longevity on being taken seriously after this Hollywood cyclist debacle fades away. The status quo will not do. Good Luck guys and gals.

Well, cops will be cops. All we can do as citizens is have our phone cameras ready to make sure we prevent and record abuses.

You forgot in the violent crimes section to add "ONE BIKE KICK"

The world according to eddie o'shea

I say record them, because most cops only have a high school education and are prone to respond emotionally rather than rationally. Keep those phone cameras ready and youtube, youtube, youtube.

You know it Cit! Obviously you agree.

Yes, come and video me while I am conducting a traffic stop or a pedestrian stop. Just give me room to work since that is only common courtesy. Then after I am done come up and talk to me in a polite manner. Then I can direct you to the areas in my division where we have crime problems. That way you can video actual crimes or suspicious behavior and work with us instead of against us. I do not understand why some of you want to hurt those that protect you.

Think about it, if no one had a camera handy in Seattle. No one would've seen those poor teenage girls getting punched by that cop. Since someone was brave enough to film it, the cop will be fired and hopefully the girls will be properly compensated.

Same for the Hollywood bike kick, the cop thought no one was filming.

Who Watches the Cops... Actually you're wrong. Most Police Officers are Republicans, so they don't act emotionally (like Democrats). We actually think for ourselves, rather than rely on the government (like Democrats) to do so. So, roll the tape, it does not bother me that you have nothing better to do. Education really has nothing to do with it. I know MANY highly "educated" people that can't think for themselves. You failed to make a valid point!

ME,

I can tell you're a big fan of Glen Beck, so I guess we'll just leave it at that. Obviously, you have no college under your belt.

To ME: Most cops are Republicans? What planet are you on. Many on the LAPD Command Staff, including former Chief William Bratton are registered Democrats. Cops are no different than firemen, DWP and Parks and Rec employees; You are all Unionized Public Employees. You care little about the taxpayer but will fight to the death to keep your outrageous 90% pensions and full medical at age 55. One need go no further than your Union's website LAPD.COM to witness your whining and to prove my point.

a College Edu...Yup, I am a fan of Glenn Beck. Unfortunately (for you), I do have college under my belt.

Stop Whining...I said MOST not ALL. You need to improve your reading-comprehension.

To ME: I know you said "most" but how do you support your assertion my friend? If you we're to take a poll of all officers, including command staff, I bet you would find 55%-45% in favor of the Democrats. Maybe you could suggest to the LAPPL that they conduct such a poll. To support my point, look at some of the Democrats that the LAPPL threw their support to in the past; Gray Davis, Edmund "Jerry" Brown, etc.

Stop Whining...Because the LAPPL has their political motives for what they do. I DO NOT agree with all that they do. Again, MOST are not democrats. I can't see why the LAPPL would want to conduct such a poll. But, if they did it would prove I am correct.

The LAPPL would find in their poll, that MOST Officers are Republicans, and do not agree with all their shenanigans!
