- Police Chief Charlie Beck informed the Board the Department was still on track to have the completed investigation on the recent 6th and Union officer involved shooting to the Commission by the holidays. He added the Days of Dialog and meeting with the Council Generals continue.
- The Department’s report, dated May 12, 2010, and Inspector General’s report, dated September 28, 2010, relative to the review of the Department’s quarterly discipline report for the First Quarter of 2010, as given Inspector General Nicole Bershon and Commander Richard Webb. Ms. Bershon stated this report is a remnant of the Consent Decree and will continue to prepare the report quarterly going forward. She added there were no major issues or concerns with the report only that there is currently a lack of tracking system for Official Reprimands. The report focused on Valley Traffic Division.
- The Department’s report, dated September 24, 2010, relative to recommendation for the Medal of Valor and the Police Distinguished Service Medal, was approved.
- The Department’s report, dated September 22, 2010, relative to request for payment of reward offer on City Council file No. 06-0010-S36, was approved.
- The Department’s report, dated September 22, 2010, relative to request for payment of reward offer on City Council file No. 07-0010-S46, was approved and transmitted to the Mayor and City Council.
- The Department’s report, dated September 23, 2010, relative to follow up response to City Council motion 09-0066, relative to procedures related to concentrations of residential locations of registered sex offenders, as given by Detective Diane Webb, was approved and transmitted to City Council. Detective Webb informed the Board there are currently 63,000 registrants in Los Angeles County with 5,100 of those residing in the City of Los Angeles. She said Jessica’s Law severely restricts where sex offenders can live but added there are no additional restrictions on where they can live in the City of Los Angeles.
