This is really ashame. I wonder did he over extend himself financially, have marital problems, or substance abuse? Either way the Department has another blemish on it now. The poor victim had to be terrified. Am I understanding correctly that he is on a "PAID LEAVE" for a crime he committed?

He's on "PAID LEAVE" Concerned Citizen, because we still live in the United States Of America, where you're innocent, until PROVEN guilty. So settle down until the FACTS are laid out in a court of law and he's FOUND guilty. But if he's found guilty, I submit that he should be fired and jailed, because YES, we officers of the law should be held to a higher standard.
Again, that's if, he's found guilty by a jury of his peers.

I just read the rest of the story in the LA Times... I Do think that based on the totality of the information given by the arresting department and the victim, that Sgt. Daigle should be FIRED! What a scumbag and a black mark on our department. Shame on you Daigle, you're now aligned with the wolves, not the sheepdogs!

Financial problems? Marital problems? Substance abuse? These are just excuses, since the real reason a law enforcement officer will commit a crime is because his moral compass is off kilter and he probably thinks he is smarter than his fellow officers and will not get caught.

Either way, expect many more crimes being committed by law enforcement officers in the near future. You can then look to the politicians in the council and the mayor's office for their politically correct changes to the hiring process. Lower standards means lower morals and lower integrity in candidates.

I would not have wanted to be that victim. She is lucky to be alive.
Too bad he didn't think before he made a bad decision that unfairly reflects on the entire profession

Its really to bad, this guy gives the hard working police officers a bad name. People will grab this story and try and but them all in a bad light. Hopefully this gets resolved!
