Los Angeles: A 15-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department has been charged with making Criminal Threats against a woman he formerly had a relationship with.
On October 18, 2011, the Fullerton Police Department began a Criminal Threats investigation when a woman reported that a former romantic interest, 41-year-old Joshua Jinwook Chong, was calling and sending her threatening telephonic messages. Chong was arrested that same day for Criminal Threats. He later posted $50,000 bail and was released.
Chong was assigned to Harbor Area as a patrol sergeant at the time of his arrest. He has been on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal and LAPD administrative investigation.
Anyone wishing to report a crime can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477). Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone. All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.” Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
As a supervisor this individual just set a poor example and should be made an example by being prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. He should also be either demoted, suspended for 3mos or even better terminated from the LAPD...
