At about 5:30 p.m., Alhambra police officers, who were driving through downtown, discovered the victim near a bus stop in the 600 block of Crocker Street.
According to unidentified witnesses, Ortiz was seen running westbound on 6th Street from Towne Avenue just before he collapsed on the sidewalk.
The motive of the stabbing is undetermined, and police have few leads.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Central Homicide Detectives at 213-972-1203. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-our toll free number at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).
That's a nice idea, the police having a blog, congratulations! Would be a good thing to have in Brasil. If you guys need any translation from English into Portuguese, just drop us an email.
Cheers from Brazil!

If somebody came close to me brandishing a knife, or if they surprised me with a stab that does not incapacitate, I would respond with 230 grain, .45 ACP attitude adjusters. I am so glad I do not live in a city or county that is afraid of citizens defending themselves.

Why would an Alhambra PD unit be in downtown LA ? Has the crime rate in Alhambra dropped so dramatically that Alhambra PD is moonlighting in LA?

I don't know why Alhambra pd would be in downtown LA. Maybe because L.A County jail is in Downtown LA?

Very well done! This blog can be helpful in keeping those in Los Angeles and beyond well informed.
We have a ministry of prayer. We frequently pray for the Police and Fire Department. We are grateful for 'our responders' and those who serve in our city.
Please don't allow this blog to become a place to criticize, downgrade, and "diss" our City of Angels.
May the Lord bless and keep each of you in the shadow of His wings.
